Fort Collins, CO. – On July 1, 2015, Odell Brewing will release its newest seasonal four pack. Following Tree Shaker, Brombeere is a Gose (Goes-uh) brewed with blackberries.
Originating in Germany, Gose is a soured wheat ale brewed with salt and spices. The Odell Brewing team used a house culture for natural souring along with coriander in the kettle to give the beer its tartness. They added blackberry juice during fermentation for a balancing sweetness.
“The process that we use is unique to us and not something our brewhouse was designed to do,” said Odell Brewing Lab Technician, Tony Rau. “We are beginning to push our system in creative ways to craft unique styles of beer. The natural souring process and the fruit addition make this beer more labor intensive than most, but it really shines through in the flavor of the finished beer.”
Balanced yet complex, Brombeere boasts just a hint of salt and a touch of tartness that is quenching but not puckering. The blackberries lend a subtle fruity sweetness that balances and compliments the salty tartness. The finish is clean, crisp and refreshing.
Brombeere four packs will be available July through September throughout the brewery’s eleven state distribution footprint. Odell Brewing will celebrate the release ofBrombeere in the Tap Room June 19 – 21.

Brombeere Blackberry Gose may be available at your local craft beer store now. I found some at Taylor’s Pantry (Good Spirits) in Sioux Falls. It is good and worth the search!
ABV = 4.8%
My tasting notes –
Brombeere pours out deep gold with some dark highlights into a goblet. The white head dissipates quickly. The aroma is light blackberry fruit with tart hints. There is nice carbonation with prominent fine rising bubbles. The taste is a nice mixture of blackberries and tartness. A hint a salt is also present. This is a good and crisp sour blackberry wheat beer. Get it while you can!
