The Wooden Legs Brewing Company has recently opened to thirsty craft beer fans in Brookings and the South Dakota State University community.  A Grand Opening Celebration is being planned for mid-June, so watch this blog for updates.

I first met Seth Koch and Brant Mathiason in February 2011 when they were making test batches of beer on their 1/2 barrel brewing systen by Brew Magic. Along with partner Steve Kreeger,  they were hoping to be operating by fall 2011. Building delays pushed back the opening until May 13, but the wait was worth it!

Seth attended brewing school at the Siebel Insitute of Technology for training. He has networked with many others in the brewing industry, including Crow Peak Brewing in Spearfish, to open a quality facility dedicated to making consistent quality beer.

The brewpub is equipped with a professional 3 barrel system designed by  Brewmation Incorporated. Various monitors and controls insure consistent quality.

Several beers have been brewed and are in various stages of fermentation and aging. Look soon for Split Rock Creek Pale Ale, Kuhl Blonde Ale, 3 Five 3 Stout and What We Got (Imperial India Pale Ale) on tap. Many additional craft beers are currently available on tap and in bottles.  Stop in now to meet the friendly staff and enjoy some great beer!
