Our annual trip to the granddaughter’s dance recital at the Rialto Theater in Joliet, IL usually provides many opportunities to try some new craft beers and explore some of the booming Chicago beer scene. This years trip started out on a strong note with a visit to the 3floyds brewery and brewpub in Munster, IN. They are rated as one of the best breweries in the America by Beer Advocate and Rate Beer. Chuck and I arrived at lunch time. We picked up some beer to go since the brewpub was full. After a short wait we got a couple stools at the bar. We both tried several new beers and ordered lunch. The Alpha Dog brat went well with the Battle of Charo (amber ale)! I also tried the Toxic Revolution (American Imperial Stout) and Masonic Rite (witbier).
I visited Binny’s Beverage Depot in Plainfield today. It has a huge selection of craft beer to choose from. I was disciplined and only left with 2 1/2 cases (one was Two Hearted Ale from Bell’s). Check back for another update or two!
