The Brookings Beer Expo was held December 8 at the Swiftel Center. Organizers estimated the crowd at 250. Participants were able to meet brewery representatives, taste over 50 beers, meet local brewers from Heist Brewing and Wooden Legs Brewing and learn about home brewing from the SDSU Brew Club.
The room at the Swiftel Center was busy until the end of the afternoon!
The South Dakota New Belgium representative, Kosta Theodosopoulos, answers questions.
The Dakota Beverage representative, Dave McDonald, answers questions about Odell Brewing beers.
The Wooden Legs Brewing Company had a display. They are looking forward to opening in the spring of 2013 in Brookings. The Heist Brewing Company, also from Brookings, was busy pouring a couple beer selections as well as a soda.
The SDSU Brew Club raffled off a brewing kit and informed aspiring home brewers about the fun hobby of brewing!
Former Brookings Liquor Store employee, David “Mitch” Mitchell, was present to enjoy the festivities. He recently retired after 39 years. His friendly service and knowledge of the beverage industry will be missed!
The event was successful and the Swiftel Center is already planning for next year!
PS – My favorite beers were New Belgium Frambozen and Deschutes Jubelale. Thanks to Seth Koch for the extra photos. Cheers!
