What do you get when you add friends, beer, music & beautiful weather? The answer is Beervana. I started last years’ post with the same question, but the answer is the same. Monk’s knows the answer and how to throw a party! Thanks to Jerry Hauck, Karen Lightfield Budde, the bartenders and distributors for a great time!

The event was held last Saturday, September 20. The weather was beautiful and sunny. There were 60+ unique beers to sample – what more could a beer geek ask for? Unlimited tastings were available for the $40 entrance fee. Food vendors and live music added to the fun. Every participant received a special tasting glass.

Besides the good beer, it was great to see old friends and to meet new ones. I got to spend time with Brookings, Sioux Falls and former Mitchell friends.

I even got to see a Sioux Falls party bike passing by. Beervana is one of the best craft beer events in South Dakota each year. The craft beer scene in South Dakota continues to grow with new breweries, new craft beer bars, a great selection of beers to try and more beer geeks to meet.  I can’t wait for next year!

PS- so what were my favorite beers? Bourbon County Stout from Goose Island and Big Wood Big Black Wolf. Cheers!
