Beer Review – Odell Myrcenary

Odell Myrcenary

The Odell Brewing Company of Fort Collins, CO produces a line of hop forward beers that are distributed in South Dakota.  Myrcenary, a double India Pale Ale or DIPA, is a recent release.  It is available in a four pack of 12 ounce bottles for $11.29.  I picked up some at Good Spirits Fine Wine & Liquor (Taylor’s Pantry) in Sioux Falls.

The beer pours out a deep gold color into a pint glass (I admit that maybe a tulip glass or snifter would have been better).  A nice white head is present.  The aroma and flavor are a mixture of tropical fruit, citrus and floral notes.  The ABV = 9.3%, but the alcohol is not prominent.  This beer reminds me a lot of the Dreadnaught DIPA from the Three Floyds Brewing Company of  Munster, IN.

Grade = A

This is a delicious beer, but make it a sipping beer because of the alcohol content.  Myrcenary is scheduled to be a year round release.  I will certainly pick it up again.  Enjoy!
