Beer Review – Boulevard 21st Anniversary Ale

Boulevard 21st Anniversary Pale Ale

The Boulevard Brewing Company beers are usually available in Brookings, but I picked this 750 ml bottle up at Good Spirits Fine Wine & Liquor in Sioux Falls.  It cost $13.39.  I had heard about this release for a couple months and was looking forward to trying it.  Boulevard has some good year round hoppy beers in their Pale Ale and Single-Wide IPA.  This 21st Anniversary Fresh Hop Pale Ale did not disappoint.  The malts are a mixture of English pale, Munich and caramel.  A mixture of Cascade, Hallertau, Magnum, Styrian Golding, and Centennial hops are used.  I hope it becomes a regular seasonal release.

ABV = 7.4%

IBUs = 40

The beer poured out deep gold and slightly cloudy with a big fluffy head into a pint glass.  It had a nice piney and citrus hop aroma.  The flavor was a nice balance between the the citrus hops and malt.  It wasn’t too bitter (note the IBUs = 40).  It would pair nice with a grilled burger in my opinion.

Grade = A-

I wish it was available Brookings.  I would drink it again and recommend it!
