Indianapolis Beer Bloggers Conferenceon July 20, 2012 at 12:27 pm
Indianapolis is a great place to visit. It has many family friendly attractions, clean streets, a new airport, the Colts and great craft beer! The Downtown Marriott was the site for the 2012 Beer Bloggers Conference July 13-15. The three days of the conference were packed with keynote speeches by Garrett Oliver and Randy Mosher, educational sessions, Live Beer Blogging, and the Night of Many Bottles. We also visited the Indiana Microbrewer’s Festival and the Monarch Warehouse (one of the world’s largest automated beer & wine warehouses).
During the Live Beer Blogging we tried 10 different beers, one every five minutes, from different breweries. We then blogged or tweeted our comments. This event is always one of the most lively and fun at the conference. The beers ranged all the way from pilsners to Russian imperial stouts. My favorite was the Three Floyd’s Brewing Arctic Panzer Wolf (Barnaby filled my pint glass with this delicious double IPA)!
The Night of Many Bottles was also a blast! Each blogger or industry representative brings beer from their home region to share. It is fun to have other bloggers take you to their table and share their favorites. My two favorites from the session were Cigar City Marshall Zhukov and Westvleteren 12. The beers I shared from the Midwest were 11th Hour IPA from Crow Peak, Surly Furious and Tallgrass 8-Bit Pale Ale.
It was great to see old friends and make new friends! What a great weekend! Attend next year if you can.
Lastly, I would like to thank the folks from Zephyr Adventures for organizing the conference!
