2010 Beer Bloggers Conference – Pt. 2

View from the Marriott, Boulder, CO

Saturday conference highlights included –

  1. Several technical sessions covering blog improvements and building online communities.
  2. Greg Koch from Stone Brewing Company talked to the group about ethics in the beer industry, plans for a Stone Brewery in Europe and gave us an early sample of Lucky Bastard (see Beer Advocate for reviews).

  3. Live Beer Blogging – this event involved being presented a new beer every five minutes.  Brewery representatives (sometimes owners) detailed us on one of their beers and answered questions.  The bloggers then blogged or tweeted their comments about the beer.  We were presented with twelve different beers during the session – everything from lagers to fresh hop beers to stouts to a sour beer.  This was fast paced, fun and probably the favorite session of many of the attendees.  Here is a good summary from Brewpublic.

  4. The evening meal was at the Boulder Beer Company where we were given free reign at the bar and tours of the brewery.  They are the oldest craft beer brewery in Colorado and have recently added a canning line.  It was fun to meet many of the bloggers and share a pint with them!
